Lack Information Leads to Misinformation of Sexual Health

In some places, sex is still considered taboo to talk especially in open occasion. Lack of sex education in the nation is dangerous because it makes children vulnerable to sexual assault and sexually transmitted diseases. Studies show that most of the youth today become sexually active. But the worse is they act without having accurate information about reproductive health. This lack of information can grow the risk of unplanned pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Here, sexual health education can be the answer of helping young people to prevent these problems and improve their future reproductive health.
Sex education programs provide the youth information about reproductive health. They offer the only setting in which young people can attain the skills necessary to maintain good reproductive health. Misinformation and misunderstandings about conception, family planning, and sexually transmitted disease increase the risks among young adults. In Jamaica, research found that a group of young adults had little knowledge about reproductive health issues. It causes some consequences, they are unwanted pregnancies and disease. The worse thing is they do not know what to do. That is where sexual health clinics play an important role.
A sexual health clinic is a clinic that specializes in curing sexually diseases. Every sexual health clinic has one public health nurse who can discuss sexual issues with visitors and patients and give referrals to community agencies for additional information. Bigger clinics may have a full medical staff who can provide a full range of sexuality-related test services, including testing for, protection from or treatment of STDs, and perhaps even psychological counseling. Where the school’s duty to educate kids of reproductive health ends, the sexual health clinic’s duty begins. Being sexually active is a choice and it must me made with great care. Therefore, make sure you know the facts before you deal with the bandwagon and engage in sex.
